About Campus life
The university’s campus is located in Burla city which is surrounded by verdant forests and mountains. The Hirakud Dam is about 2 Km away from this city and attracts several bird species during winter. The approximate land area covered by the campus is around 133 acres and consists of the University’s Building, Hall of Residences, and Staff Quarters. The campus has a Central Internet Facility to cater to the internet surfing requirements of students. Major facilities offered by Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology are explained below:
Central Library: The campus has a separate library in association with the UGC that is constructed over an area of approximately 10000+ sq. ft. In this three storied building, there are different sections on each floor. The Circulation Section and General Book Bank sections are on the ground floor. The first floor has a Journal Section, Reprographic Section, and Reference Section. The Top floor has a Text Book Section and a Reading Hall with accommodation capacity for 100+ students. The collection of the library includes 70000+ Books, 3600+ E-Journals, and 5+ Databases.
Central Computer Facility: The University established this facility to provide students with computer facilities. This facility gets updated and expanded with time. Here students can upgrade their technical knowledge and skills.
Central Workshop: This is a place where UG students get practical experience in multiple aspects such as Smithy Shop, Welding Shop, Machine Shop, Fitting Shop, Carpentry Shop, CNC Shop, and Foundry Shop. While working on their academic projects, students can use the facilities available here to improve their respective skills.
Central Research Facility: To provide students with a scientific platform for their research projects, the campus has a Central Research Facility equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and resources.
Hall of Residence: Every out-stationed student is provided with hostel facilities within the campus. The university has approximately 8 halls of residence out of which 5 are for boys and 3 are for girls. Around 1000 boys can be accommodated in boys’ hostels and 500+ girls can live comfortably in girls’ hostels. The Dining Halls are spacious and well-maintained and serve both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food for the students.
Central Transport Facility: The University offers transportation facilities for students. The buses are also used to take them for industrial visits, athletic meets, and other events.
Other Facilities: Canteen, Guest Houses, Medical, NSS, NCC, etc.
