NIT Srinagar is a public university of technology in Srinagar, Jammu, and Kashmir, India. It was founded in 1960 as one of six Regional Engineering Colleges as part of the Government of India's Second Five-Year Plan (1956–1961). NIT Srinagar is located in one of the most beautiful places in the world and has one of the most beautiful campuses. Situated in the valley that is often called ‘Heaven of Earth,’ NIT Srinagar does not have a huge campus as such but the location of the campus is serene and mesmerising. Located close to the world-famous tourist attraction Dal Lake of Srinagar, NIT Srinagar has a range of modern facilities.
Hostel and facilities
Hostels in NIT Srinagar are well maintained and rich with facilities. NIT Srinagar hostel facilities are available for boys and girls. The boys' hostels at NIT Srinagar are named after four major rivers that flow in the region - Indus, Tawi, Jhelum, Chenab and Dal Lake. The hostels of NIT Srinagar have a mess attached, and a computer centre is available in the NIT Srinagar Hostels for students’ use for academics. The computers offer 24x7 internet connectivity. There are 2 girls’ hostels on the NIT Srinagar campus with all modern facilities.
