Vikram University was founded in 1957 in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh under the amended Act of Vikram University No. 13, 1957. The foundation of this state-owned university was laid by the then Home Minister of India Shri Govind Vallabh Pant. The jurisdiction of this affiliating university includes six districts of the Ujjain division, including Ujjain, Ratlam, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Shajapur and Dewas. There are a total of 172 government and private colleges under the umbrella of this university. The university is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Its technical and professional courses are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Government of Madhya Pradesh. The university is also accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a ‘B++’ grade. Vikram University offers more than 400 UG, PG, diploma, PG diploma, certificate, and doctoral programmes under its 10 academic faculties. The Vikram University campus is located near Vikram Vatika, Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh and on the land donated by Shri Ranchod Lalji Dhaba. The campus has facilities such as the university computer centre, the university science and instrumentation centre, the Maharaja Jiwaji Rao Library, the university press, a health centre, hostels, guest houses, sports facilities, baking and postal facilities, and many more.
