In 1984, B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science & Technology formerly known as B.S. Abdur Rahman University was established as a Deemed to be University under the approval of the UGC. It is accredited by NAAC with “A+” Grade, NBA, BCI, and PCI. It is also approved by AICTE. About Campus life
The location of the university’s campus is 120 Seethakathi Estate, Grand Southern Trunk Rd, Vandalur, Tamil Nadu. Vandalur is a town located in Chengalpattu district that is situated south of Chennai. Arignar Anna Zoological Park is also located in this town where some rare species of fauna and flora can be found. The land area that has been used to build the campus of B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science & Technology is around 50+ acres. The well-designed campus consists of multiple departments, laboratories, a library, classrooms, playgrounds, and other facilities. There are 160+ classrooms, 40+ Seminar Halls, and 20+ Departmental Libraries on the campus. Detailed information regarding all these facilities is given below: Library: The University has a Central Library that has a rich collection of journals and books related to streams like Management, Technology, Law, Humanities, Engineering, Pharmacy, and Science. All the departmental libraries are well-connected to the Central library. Students can also access the Digital Library as it has a membership of the National Digital Library of India, MALIBNET, and DELNET. Computing Facilities: The campus has around 20+ servers, 1000+ desktop clients, and 50+ workstations. All the laboratories, hostels, and departments are connected by one network. Students can learn new technical skills and obtain advanced knowledge. Convention Centre: This Centre of the campus consists of around 3 Seminar Halls with accommodation capacity of around 300, 200, and 100 people respectively. The centre also has an Auditorium that can accommodate 1300+ students. Additional facilities in this centre include the Greenroom, Alumni Centre, Placement Cell Office, Language Laboratory, Entrepreneurship Development Cell, etc. Canteen: The canteen of the university has approximately 4 halls that are well-furnished and serve nutritious, delicious, and healthy meals for students. This is the best place to relax and enjoy. Here milkshakes and fresh juices are also served. Hostel: The campus has well-constructed, comfortable, and hygienic hostel facilities for boys and girls. The boys’ hostels can accommodate around 1500 students while girls’ hostels have a capacity for approximately 500 people. All the hostels have their own mess where students can enjoy both non-vegetarian and vegetarian food. Additional facilities of hostels include a Gym, Wi-Fi, a Reading Room, Mess Food, a Recreation Hall, Laundry Services, Sports, a Table, a Chair, a Cot, a Mattress, etc. Sports: There are facilities for Indoor and Outdoor sports on the campus. It has a Football Ground, Hockey Ground, Volleyball Court, Tennis Courts, Badminton Court, Cricket Ground, Athletic Tracks, etc. for students. Transportation: The University provides transportation services for students where it has appointed AC and non-AC buses to pick them up. Health Centre: The campus has a health centre that is 24x7 open to provide medical care to the students. Couple of resident doctors along with paramedical members have also been appointed. Other Facilities: Banking Services, Book Shop, Staff Quarters, Architecture Studio, Aerospace Museum, etc.
