Percussion-Music Lessons and Final Training
The percussion lessons begin with vaytharis (syllables) and progress to ‘strokes and fingerings' in various rhythmic scales and tempos. The final stage of training includes a well-coordinated performance of Kathakali or Kutiyattam (without make-up and costumes), which is technically known as "Cholliyaattam." This segment combines dance, drama, and music (vocal and instrumental) from the art form in question into a single kalari.
