About University

Central Sanskrit University (CSU) formerly known by the name Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan was established on 15th October, 1970 as an autonomous organisation registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 for the promotion and development of the ancient ‘Sanskrit’ language nationally and internationally. It has the privilege of working as a nodal agency for the implementation of policies and schemes related to Sanskrit in India. The University works in coordination with the Ministry of Education, Government of India and is the only multi campus language university in the world with its headquarters in New Delhi. It is accredited by NAAC with “A++” Grade. Vision: The University’s vision is to make India as “Vishwa guru” in the global society for the glory of Sanskrit learning by transforming the university as a world class university. Mission: CSU mission is to provide students a platform for acquiring knowledge based on Sanskrit heritage and apply it in all relevant fields in India. It works to develop the university as an accredited Sanskrit based knowledge hub to bring the language as a medium in mainstream education. To achieve the vision and mission the university is offering various courses in various schools functioning under it. Below is the list of schools working under CSU. School of Veda-Vedanga & Vedic Sciences School of Shikshashastra & Kaushal Prashikshan School of Languages, Literature and Culture School of Shastric Knowledge Systems School of Darshana School of Contemporary Knowledge Systems & Humanities School of Multidisciplinary Sciences & Technology School of Yoga Science & Holistic Health Practices Various courses offered by the institute are termed as Shastri, Acharya, Vidya Varidhi. Diploma and Certificate programs are available in Regular, Distance, Correspondence, and in Online mode.

About Campus life
The university campuses are located at different locations with state of the art facilities. Among the various facilities provided by the university some of them are detailed below: Library: The central library of the university operates as the nerve center, disseminating educational resources at all levels for the educational growth of the Sansthan and the students. The library is a recognised research center dedicated to research work on various disciplines of Sanskrit literature. It acts as an open access system for all Sanskrit scholars and researchers in India and in foreign countries. Hostel: Hostels are also available at the university campus to accommodate both men and women students from faraway locations. A Campus Hostel Committee is set up to regulate and manage the affairs of the hostels. Each hostel is under the charge of a warden and provides facilities like mess, common room, computer and Wi-Fi, lawn, washing machines, etc. Sports Facilities: Facilities for the outdoor sports like Kabaddi, Volleyball, Badminton, are available at the university campus. An Indoor stadium to practice Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess, etc is also available for students. Other Facilities: Laboratories, Vehicles for official purpose, Canteen, and more.
