About University

The formation of Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya at Mohanpur was done in the year 1974. It is approved by the UGC and ICAR. The vision of the university is to provide students with knowledge related to agriculture and make them educated agriculturists who ensure implementation of proper strategies for the development of this industry. Its mission is to organise proper and special training for students so that they can become competent individuals. The University offers UG and PG courses in the streams of Agriculture, Horticulture, and Agricultural Engineering.

About Campus life
The University’s campus consists of modest amenities to conduct extra-curricular and co-curricular activities for students to ensure their holistic development. The Centralised computational amenity present at the campus fulfils the demands of students whereas terminals installed at several departments and sections provide internet access facility for researchers and faculties. The huge playground of the campus provides students a space for relaxation and fun. The playground environment motivates students’ minds and allows them to focus on their physical development. The other facilities available at Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya are mentioned below: Auditorium: The campus has an auditorium named “Birla Auditorium” that has a seating capacity for approximately 430 students. It is well-furnished with lights, audio systems, and other required equipment. Convocation Hall: At the first floor of the Administrative Hall, there is a Convocation Hall that can accommodate around 350 students. Seminar Halls: To meet various requirements and conduct multiple activities, there are around 10+ seminar halls. Here activities like presentations, workshops, cultural activities, short-term training programs, guest lectures, and other gatherings are organised. Library: The Central Library of the University consists of a four-storied building that covers an area of approximately 5557 sq. m. area. The Ground Floor has a collection of journals, books, and reports. It also has a conference room. The first floor of the library consists of a Reading Room, Lending Counter, Career Special Collection, Computer Lab, Meeting Room, Photocopying Facility, and Acquisition Section. The Second Floor stores thesis, journals, dissertations, and internet units. The collection of library includes 76000+ Books, 25+ Magazines, 40+ Subscribed Indian Journals, and other collections. Canteen & Food Courts: The canteen of the university provides traditional North Indian, South Indian, and Bengali Dishes. Students can enjoy tea and coffee from morning to evening. The Campus Food Court consists of around 4 shops where students are served with street dishes of Kolkata. Hostel: The University provides accommodation facilities for its students. All the hostels offer amenities for extra-curricular activities such as newspaper, television, magazines, and games along with other basic facilities provided within the campus. All the students staying in the hostels have to follow rules and regulations set by the authorities of the hostels. Gymnasium & Indoor Games: Vivekananda Byamagar is the gymnasium of the university that consists of facilities to conduct yoga and gym activities. The simple and friendly environment of the gym makes regular exercises more refreshing and relaxing. Within the premises of the gymnasium, there is space for playing Table Tennis and Badminton. Health Centre: The Health Centre of the University offers free check ups, medical advice, physiotherapies, and investigations of the students. It provides other facilities like X-Ray Unit, Medicines, Doctors’ Consultations, ECG, Ambulance, and other amenities. Transportation Services: Transportation facilities are available for commuting between the two campuses of the university located within a distance of approximately 15 Km. Students can take the benefit of these transportation services to attend classes and other education related activities. Other Facilities: Post Office, Guest House, Bank & ATM, Museum, Bookshop, etc.
