About Campus life
Located at Sector 14 and 25 of Chandigarh, the campus of the university is spread over an area of approx 550 acres. The infrastructure of the university is built in a way that fulfills all the major requirements and needs of an academic hub. To make the premise a positive and healthy academic space for the students, the ST & SC Cell and Student Grievances Redressal Committee are present on the premises of the university. The facilities of the university are world-class as it has modern and well-structured classrooms with excellent seating arrangements and digital teaching tools, Wi-Fi enabled campus, and other major amenities and services like:
Library: The University has a library known as AC Joshi Library and it is fully air-conditioned, situated in a 5-storey building. The library has a massive collection of books with more than 7 lakh publications, 1400+ manuscripts, national & international journals, periodicals, etc. The library also has digital sections with computers, internet, and other advanced facilities to provide easy online research facilities to the students. The digital library has more than 7500 online journals and other databases. The seating capacity of the library’s reading room is up to 450+ students with a comfortable seating area and well-lit space.
Computer Centre: A well-established and functioning computer centre is present on the premises of the university to provide hi-tech learning and research facilities to the students. The computer centre is connected to fast internet facilities and has all the latest software and tools.
Hostel: The University has 18 hostels in total, 10 hostels are for girls and 8 for boys. The premises of the hostels are student-friendly and the rooms of each hostel are well furnished, maintained, clean, and safe. In total, the 18 hostels can accommodate up to 6000+ students, and apart from this, there is one hostel for International Students and one for Working Women. The facilities of the hostels are world-class as it fulfills all the needs and requirements of the students staying here.
Sports: Panjab University is known for providing excellent sports facilities to its students. The university owns a playground that provides an international-level gaming area to the students. There are two football grounds, 8 lanes for 400 m athletic track, two cemented basketball courts, three softball grounds, one netball ground, one hockey ground, two kho-kho courts, a swimming pool, two kabaddi courts, two cricket grounds, 8 tennis court, etc. All these games are played under expert sports faculties and coaches. The university also has a shooting range of 10 meters.
Health Facilities: The University has health facilities for every student, whether it’s a day scholar or hosteller. The university has all the essential medical facilities like modern clinical labs, X-ray machines, and ECG available for the students along with 24/7 ambulance services. Expert doctors, general physicians, and professionals are present in the health centre to look after the students.
