The glorious journey of Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research was started in the year 1984 as Bharath Institute of Science and Technology in Chennai. The institute got its status as Deemed to Be University by UGC in the year 2002. The institute is also approved by AICTE. Legal authorities like BCI, COA, INC, DCI, MCI, PCI, SIRO, NAAC, and NBA have accredited the institute. The institute regularly strived to give quality research and academic environment for learners so that they can acquire professional competencies and human dignity. The prime objective of the institute is to set up benchmark standards for students through professional practices in distinguished academic fields. The institute also wants to impart education by implementing an interdisciplinary approach for students who can contribute in developing a better society. About Campus life
The campus of BIHER is spread over a large area and has well-maintained and state-of-art infrastructure. Students are trained and provided with quality education under the mentorship of well-qualified faculty members. The University provides the following Infrastructure and Facilities for students: Library: The library was set up by the University with the motive of providing an abundant number of academic resources for the students. The books provided in the library are associated with multiple disciplines. Yoga Activities: Students can participate in different yoga activities organised by the University. Hostels: The University makes efforts to provide the best accommodation facilities for students where they can access affordable and comfortable hostels. Students living in hostels are provided with dining and lunch facilities. The campus consists of 5 hostels out of which 1 is for girls and 4 are for boys. All these hostels can provide accommodation facilities for around 1470 students. Transport: Interested students can avail of transportation facilities provided by the University. Other Facilities: Some other amenities provided for the students by the University include Sports, NCC, and NSS.
