About Campus life
The university campus is developed on 316 acres of land with lush green surroundings and pollution free environment. The Guru Gobind Singh Bhawan marks the magnificent architectural beauty of the campus. The university has various centers to carry out research activities in different disciplines. There is a separate Department of Tourism, Hospitality and Hotel Management with excellent facilities to impart knowledge, skills, concepts, and management teachings to its students. With state-of-the-art academic infrastructure, PU Patiala housed many infrastructure facilities which are mentioned in the below points:
Library: The University library is known by the name Bhai Kahan Singh Nabha Library is housed in a spacious independent building. Its wide collection comprises 4,80,000+ books, 52,000+ bound periodicals. It has subscriptions of over 350 current journals and 20+ newspapers. There is a spacious reading hall with the strength to accommodate 400 students. Dr. Ganda Singh Punjabi Reference Library is interlinked with the main library holding a vast collection on Punjabi language, culture, history, and literature. It has more than 96,000 books.
Hostel: Six hostels for boys and seven hostels for girl students are built-up in the campus. At both Guru Kashi Campus and Punjabi University Neighborhood Campus, two hostels are constructed, one for boys and another for girl students. The capacity to accommodate in these four hostels is 550 for boys and 550 for girl students. All the hostels in the campus are Wi-Fi enabled and tight security is maintained through CCTV surveillance.
Transportation: The University runs a fleet of buses which covers various parts of Patiala city. The Transport department makes sure that students attend their classes on time.
Sports: Sports being an integral part are promoted in the university and its affiliated colleges. The infrastructure in the campus is equipped with excellent sports facilities for games like Archery, Cycling, Boxing, Taekwondo, Wrestling, Football, Judo, Hockey, Basketball, Athletics, and more. Indoor games facilities are present in the gymnasium hall.
Medical Facility: A Health Centre is operating in the campus with doctors, staff nurses, male nurse, radiographer, pharmacists, lab technicians, ECG technician and other supporting staff on all 7 days a week. Free medicines and consultation are provided to university students. Additionally, full medical facilities are given to the labor class and their families. The other facilities present in the Health Centre are ECG Facility, X-Rays, BMD test, Laboratory Services, etc.
Other Facilities: Audio Visual Research Centre, Computer Centre.
