About Campus life
Located at New Mehrauli Road, Munirka New Delhi, the campus of the university is world-class and green. The campus is also close to the main railway stations of the city and inter-state bus terminal. IGI Airport is also located a short distance from the university. The university not only provides academic excellence to the students, but it also provides knowledge beyond classrooms. It has established multiple clubs that help the students in showcasing their talents and following their passions. A few clubs that are available on the university campus are the Trekking club, Nature & Wildlife club, Music club, Drama club, Dance club, Fine Arts club, etc.
JNU is also very active in providing Community Services as the student of the university participates in services such as blood donation, gender empowerment, social defense training programs, etc. The university also organises student union elections every year to provide students with leadership opportunities. The modern infrastructure of the university fulfills all the needs of the students as there are smart classrooms with audio-visual facilities, an all-round internet connection, cafeteria, and smart & equipped laboratories for practicals, along with many other services and amenities like:
Library: The University has a Central Library that provides reading and research materials to the students, covering all the courses and programs. The library is built in an area of one lakh sq. ft. and provides print and digital resources to the students. There are books, e-books, journals, e-journals, theses, dissertations, periodicals, magazines, newspapers, project works, and other online databases. The cyber library of the university is equipped with 190+ computer systems along with the internet and the latest software. For students with disabilities, the library has ramps, lifts, and wheelchairs. Apart from this, the library also provides printing and scanning facilities to the students.
Hostel: The University provides excellent accommodation facilities to the students and for this; they have established 18 hostels housing both girls and boys. The rooms of the hostels are furnished, spacious, and modern and its campus is student-friendly and safe. The university has reserved hostel seats for SC, ST, and Physically Handicapped students. Mess and dining services are also provided to the hostellers where they can enjoy healthy and home-like delicious food.
Convention Centre: The University has a well-developed and furnished convention centre where the professional tasks of the university take place. The centre is modern and is used to conduct seminars, workshops, conferences, academic talks, etc.
Sports: The University has a Sports Office that provides the students with basic sports facilities and physical activities. There are sports courts, grounds, and fields for various indoor and outdoor games equipped with tools and equipment. At JNU, students enjoy games like Badminton, Chess, Mountaineering & Trekking, Power-Lifting, Cricket, Basketball, Athletics, Body Building, Football, Table-Tennis, Tennis, Taekwondo, etc. Yoga sessions are also conducted for students by the Sports Office. The university also motivates its students to take part in Inter-University, National, or State Level Sports Competitions. Experienced and trained sports coaches are also present in the university to train the students.
Health Facilities: The University has a Medical Centre that helps the students with health or medical needs. The centre is furnished with medical needs, tools, and equipment along with various laboratories to perform important medical tests.
