About University

Netaji Subhas Open University, also known as NSOU, is a state-level open university located in Kolkata, West Bengal. NSOU was established in 1997 and is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a Grade ‘A’ and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The University Grants Commission (UGC), the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), and the Government of West Bengal have also recognised NSOU as one of the top institutes for learning in the state. Moreover, NSOU is a member of the AIU, AAOU, and ACU as well. NSOU offers a total of 9 degree programmes, including undergraduate, postgraduate, PhD, diploma and certificate courses, across several disciplines of study. NSOU offers programmes through its six different schools. The university has 100+ study centres spread over West Bengal with regional centres in Durgapur, Jalpaiguri, Kalyani. It began offering a bachelor's degree in science in 2000 and a master's degree in mathematics in 2002. NSOU also offers an online course through SWAYAM (a Government of India project) for which the university provides study material. A central library at the Kalyani campus, online chat, audio-video lectures, and an online e-store for books and resources are also available.

About Campus life
Infrastructure: The infrastructural facilities of NSOU include six schools of disciplines, including School of Science, Humanities, Social Sciences, Professional Studies, Education, and Vocational Studies. The NSOU campus features a large auditorium, library services, canteen, etc. among others. Sports Centre: NSOU infrastructure provides a sports centre with provision to hold basketball/football tournaments, and other sports activities inside the campus. Library Service: The library services at NSOU provide a wide network of students’ access to all the partnered public libraries in the state, as well as the established library facilities in the NSOU campus. Fooding Facilities: The fooding facilities at NSOU include the provision for mess food for students studying at the university. NSOU campus also features a decent canteen with warm food and clean water available at 24*7. Laboratories: NSOU infrastructure offers modern laboratory facilities for all students to perform and practice their practical skills. The laboratorieshold a decent student capacity, with well-vented air conditioning and modern equipment. Wi-Fi Connections: The internet connectivity inside the NSOU campus is well established through and through. There are no major complaints about the internet connections inside the NSOU campus. Auditorium: The NSOU infrastructure also comes with a large auditorium for conducting lectures or academic sessions, annual cultural programmes and other events.
