About University
Netaji Subhas Open University, also known as NSOU, is a state-level open university located in Kolkata, West Bengal. NSOU was established in 1997 and is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a Grade ‘A’ and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The University Grants Commission (UGC), the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), and the Government of West Bengal have also recognised NSOU as one of the top institutes for learning in the state. Moreover, NSOU is a member of the AIU, AAOU, and ACU as well. NSOU offers a total of 9 degree programmes, including undergraduate, postgraduate, PhD, diploma and certificate courses, across several disciplines of study. NSOU offers programmes through its six different schools. The university has 100+ study centres spread over West Bengal with regional centres in Durgapur, Jalpaiguri, Kalyani. It began offering a bachelor's degree in science in 2000 and a master's degree in mathematics in 2002. NSOU also offers an online course through SWAYAM (a Government of India project) for which the university provides study material. A central library at the Kalyani campus, online chat, audio-video lectures, and an online e-store for books and resources are also available.
