Jagadguru Rambhadracharya Divyanga University Chitrakoot was founded in the year 2001 to provide education to people with disabilities. The motto of the university is to provide higher and professional education and cater to the needs of the disabled students. It is approved by UGC as a private university and is accredited by NAAC with “B” grade.
The University works to achieve its mission of ensuring greater participation of the disabled students by disseminating professional education enriched with traditional and modern knowledge.
To ensure the participation of the disabled candidates the university is running several courses under 19 departments. It provides over 25 courses in the field of Sociology, History, Arts, Computers, Music, Languages, Economics, Commerce and Management, and more. These courses are offered at UG, PG, and Diploma level.
Disabled candidates can take admission in the following courses at the university: B.A, M.A, BFA, MFA, B.Ed, M.Ed, BCA, MCA, PGDIT, etc.

The Centralised Admission Process is followed by the university to admit disabled students. Admissions to all the programs in the university are based on merit and qualification secured by the disabled candidates. However in teaching courses such as B.Ed, B.Ed (Special Education- Visual Impairment), B.Ed (Special Education- Hearing Impairment), candidates are selected through entrance exams. Apart from this, teaching methods are modified timely as per the needs of the disabled candidates.
