Bhatkhande Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya (BSVV) Lucknow also known by the name Bhatkhande Music Institute is an autonomous institution established in 1926 as “Marris College of Music”. In 1966 the government of Uttar Pradesh brought the institute under their control and renamed it as “Bhatkhande College of Hindustani Music”. The institute was declared “Deemed University” on the request of the State Government of Uttar Pradesh on 24th October, 2000, and then in 2022, it was declared a State University. It is actively involved in imparting education, research, and instruction on various forms of Indian music. Vision: The institutes’ vision is to cultivate in an individual, Indian cultural, musical, emotional, logical, and moral assimilation of a person to evolve as a person with high moral values and capable of facing the social and environmental challenges. Mission: The mission of the institute is to serve vibrant and comprehensive wisdom surroundings dedicated to the education, research and spreading of Indian culture in all its extent. Bhatkhande Music Institute offers courses at UG, PG, Doctorate, Diploma, and Certificate level. Bachelor’s in Performing Arts, Master’s in Performing Arts, Praveshika, Parichaya, Parangat, are some of the courses offered in the university. These programs are offered under the four departments.
