About Campus life
Located at the Administrative Building, Osmania University Campus, Main Road, Hyderabad, the campus of the university is spread over an area of 1300 acres. The infrastructure of the university fulfills all the academic and social needs of the students by offering them modern and advanced facilities. The university works to provide a positive and healthy campus environment to the students belonging to all communities and categories. There are certain cells and departments like the Students Welfare Department, SC & ST Cell, Minorities Cell, etc. OU has smart classrooms with comfortable seating arrangements and modern teaching techniques, Wi-Fi enabled campus, a well-equipped computer centre, and laboratories, along with many other facilities and services like:
Library: The library of the university is built on 62000 sq. ft. and owns world-class resources covering all the disciplines. The library is spacious, well furnished with a comfortable reading area, and fulfills the entire academic and research needs of the students. There are about 500,000 books, 350+ periodicals, national & global periodicals, 3800+ government documents, 140+ micro films, 8+ CDs & DVDs, 58000+ bound volumes, 270+ files, theses, etc. Apart from this, the library also consists of more than 6000 manuscripts, bibliographies, and other print resources. A digital library facility is also provided to the students with internet facilities to access e-books, e-journals, and other online databases.
Hostel: OU facilitates the students that come from far away locations by providing them with an excellent accommodation space. The university has 22 hostels for the students and each hostel is well maintained. The rooms of the hostels are built keeping the needs of the hostellers in mind such as accurate lighting, comfortable furniture, enough space for storage, etc. The rules and regulations of the hostels are taken care of by the wardens and 24x7 security guards are also present in the hostel’s campus. Mess services are also provided to the hostellers who serve freshly cooked and home-like meals to the students.
Sports: Sports and physical activities are very important for the physical and mental growth of the students and to facilitate the students with the same, OU provides excellent sports infrastructure to its students. Physical education coaches and trainers are also present in the university to train and guide the students in various indoor and outdoor sports.
English Language Training Centre: The University has a special centre which helps the students in imparting English Language Skills. Special courses and programs are offered to the students which help them understand the concept of English clearly.
Auditorium: The University has a well-built, active, and modern auditorium facility. This space is huge and is used to organise graduation ceremonies, award shows, national & international seminars, conferences, annual functions, etc.
Health Facilities: The University has a well-established Health Centre which provides free medical treatment and services to students. Specialists and professional doctors are present in the centre with the latest medical and first aid tools. This centre provides various health services to the students like Dental, ENT, Gynecology, General OP, Cardiology, etc.
