With the approval of UGC, The International Institute of Information Technology was established in 1998 as Deemed to be University in Hyderabad. The university is also approved by the AICTE. About Campus life
The campus of IIIT Hyderabad is spread over an area of approximately 66 acres and consists of multiple facilities for students that are mentioned below: Library: The collection of the library includes Technical Reports, Text Books, Reference Books, Literature Books, etc. The Library Management Software manages the functioning of the library. It also has an OPAC facility. Students can access online archive books, software, and tutorials. Laboratories: The campus has air-conditioned and well-equipped computer laboratories that consist of the latest software and hardware. Here students can perform their research work with the help of high speed internet connection. Hostel: The campus has residential facilities where double occupancy rooms are allotted to 1st and 2nd year students pursuing Bachelor’s or Dual Degree programs. On the other hand Single occupancy rooms are allotted to the 3rd year students. The premises has around 3 boys’ hostels and 2 girls’ hostels. The 3 boys’ hostels are Palash Nivas, New Boys Hostel, and Bakul Nivas Hostel. The 2 girls’ hostels are Old Parijaat Nivas and New Parijaat Nivas. Sports: The institute has multiple sports facilities for games like Table Tennis, Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, etc. Dining Facilities: The campus has around 3 vegetarian and 1 non-vegetarian mess within the premises where nutritious meals are served. Students can also get snacks and beverages from the canteen. Gymnasium: A physical trainer has been appointed who monitors the exercises performed by hostellers in the gymnasium. The campus also has a common gym for all students and a mini gym for girls. Yoga: A yoga room has been built to conduct yoga classes for students and faculties in the morning and evening.
