About Campus life
PMIST provides students with a ragging-free, ecological, safe, and energy-efficient atmosphere that is effective for learning. The University is situated on 114.85 acres of land that were formerly dry and sparsely populated in rural areas. The campus is well-maintained, clean, zero-waste, and energy efficient with a pleasant study environment. The campus features about 4,500 different types of shrubs and plants, as well as 26,000 native and rare trees.
Library: The Arjun Singh Library at PMIST is a well-stocked, three-floor institution measuring around 2619.46 square meters. It aims to encourage and wind up analytic and critical thinking with a large selection of books and e-resources. The library has a large collection of books, theses, dissertations, journals, newspapers, e-books, and other materials that are organised and catalogued for students' convenience. There are 93000+ books, 300+ journals, 2500+ dissertations in the library. Being an institutional member of DELNET, the British Council Library, and Tamil University Library enhances the research exposure. The students also have access to a digital library and journals through intranet resources.
Hostels: PMIST has built three female hostels and one male hostel to meet the demands of residential students. 120 rooms in the hostel can accommodate three students per room. A TV room with DTH, a working gym with all the required equipment, a badminton court, clean water, solar hot water systems, 24-hour electricity and water supply, Wi-Fi, mechanized laundry facility, clinic, and the vehicle in case of emergency are all provided at the hostel. All hostels have sick rooms available to give students the support and care they require.
Dining Hall: Along with dining rooms that can hold more than 1000 students for meals at once, the hostel has a kitchen attached for the provision of food in a secure and clean atmosphere. The meal is nutritious and healthy. Gas stoves with steam cooking capabilities are available in the hostel kitchen. 500 students can eat together in the hotel's dining hall, which has a space of roughly 970.63 square metres. The Mess Committees decide what will be on the menu for the students.
Periyar Maniammai Hospital: It was founded in 1991 and it has a 20-bed facility on the campus, and remains open twenty-four hours a day. It has two paramedical assistants and a full-time medical officer. The hospital operates 24 hours a day as a maternity facility and a sterilisation surgery operating room and a clinical laboratory are available for investigations. Emergency call services include ambulances. On emergency call services, ambulances are available.
Sports: Sports are important for the student's development. It gives students the confidence to pursue their dreams while putting a healthy balance between their academic pursuits and athletic passions. The physical education department uses the students' abilities in sportsmanship to inspire them to become self-assured and future leaders. On the PMIST campus, a variety of services are available to staff members and students to promote and inspire both physical and mental wellness. Indoor sports like BB, Shuttle, TT, Carrom, Chess, Multi Gym (Boys and Girls) and Yoga Hall are present. Outdoor games like 400mts Athletic track, Football field, Cricket, Ball Badminton, Kho – Kho and Kabbaddi are also there.
Clubs: There are Energy Club, Environment Club, Humanist Club, Photography Club, Painters Club, Public Affairs Club, and Rationalist Club. The institution also has a dance and music society, debating society, foreign language and culture society, and Tamil mandram.
Others: On campus, it offers a banking facility via the help of Indian Overseas Bank. For the convenience of every student and public, it offers all services like internet banking, and ATM and also has Cash Depositing Machine (CDM) capabilities. Two cafeterias that serve wholesome, sanitary cuisine are a great addition to the university. Every cafeteria offers food for a small fee and is open throughout working hours.
