About University

Chennai Mathematical Institute - CMI Siruseri was established in 1989 as a part of the Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation Ltd (SPIC) Science Foundation to advance the growth of Science and Technology in the country. Initially the institute began as the School of Mathematics and since 1996 has been working as an autonomous institution. It was assigned ‘Deemed To Be University’ status by the Government of India in December, 2006. Vision: The institute was set up with a vision to be a prominent education center globally by achieving early success and making the institute a well rounded education hub. Mission: CMI’s mission is to bridge the gap between academics and research by offering various programs in mathematics and allied subjects. Degrees at UG, PG, and doctorate level are provided by the institution by offering multiple courses in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physics. Following are a few of the courses offered by CMI. About Campus life
CMI campus was relocated at the SIPCOT Information Technology Park in Siruseri in the year 2005. The campus area covers 5 acres of land which was donated by the Shriram Group Companies and is very well designed keeping in mind the needs of the academic institution. Since the inception of the institute many infrastructure facilities have been added to the campus. Below points highlight some of the major facilities at CMI campus. Library: Library is the most important part of any institute and at CIM’s library there is a vast collection of books, journals, periodicals, and more learning resources for efficient learning and research. Hostel: CMI campus is fully residential for B.Sc students and M.Sc Mathematics and Computer Science students. Hostel accommodation is provided to them with arrangement of mess and other basic facilities. The Charges for hostel and mess facilities are adjusted periodically with the changing inflation. Transportation: Arrangements for convenient and easy transportation are made by the institute for the hostlers. Regular conveyance arrangements are made to visit the city for shopping or any other needs. Frequent shuttle service is also available on Saturdays and Sundays. Computer Laboratory: CMI students can access a fully furnished computer laboratory to supplement their practical skills related to computers as a part of their education. Students pursuing courses in Physics perform various experiments at the in-house laboratory at the university. Sports Facilities: Amenities to play various outdoor and indoor games like Volleyball, Basketball, Football, etc are available at the campus to maintain and improve the physical and mental fitness of its students. Other Facilities: Lecture Halls, Auditorium, Wi-Fi, etc.
