Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women's University was established in 1916 and is the first Women’s University in the nation. It was established with the objective of empowering women by providing them quality education and inculcating awareness about the rights and issues of women. SNDT is a State University approved by UGC and accredited by NAAC with “A” grade. Vision: To become a world class university catering to the changes in the society through advancement of knowledge. About Campus life
SNDT provides infrastructure and various facilities for the betterment of the students. The facilities provided by the University include language lab, cafeteria, auditorium, health centre, bank, herbal garden, etc. The other facilities are mentioned below: Library: The University has a Bharatratna Maharshi Karve Knowledge Resource Centre also known as BMK-Knowledge Resource Centre which is committed to provide resources essential for the research and learning of the students. It has a collection of Journals, Books, Monographs, Thesis, Dissertations, Standards, Back Volumes of National and International Journals, Articles, Annual Reports, Newspapers, Databases, CD ROMs, Brochures, Leaflets, Pamphlets, Access to Online Databases, e-Journals, e-Books, etc. It provides inter-library loan services, internet, photocopying services, reading room facilities, etc. Hostel: The female students are provided with residential facilities. The hostel can accommodate 450+ students and is equipped with a reading room, furnished room, mess, indoor games room, guest room, laundry services, warden, and all the basic amenities. Sports: The University organises inter-collegiate tournaments for the holistic development of the students. The sports facilities provided to the students include Basketball Court, Cricket Ground, Volleyball Court, Kabaddi Court, Table Tennis Table, 1+ Chess Sets, etc.
