About University

Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology - OUAT Bhubaneswar was established on 24th August, 1962 and became operational from 1st February, 1963. The State University is working under the approval of UGC and ICAR. It provides education in the field of Agriculture, Engineering, and Science. Vision: The University’s vision is to be recognised globally as a leading Farm University providing quality education, research, extension and outreach in the field of agriculture and allied sciences. It envisions a sustainable development in agriculture for the growth of the economy of the state and livelihood security to the farmers. Mission: OUAT’s mission is to produce skilled human professionals who can render their services to the farming community. It aims to expand technology, science, and engineering while utilising water, energy, land, labor, and other resources. OUAT Bhubaneswar provides a wide range of courses like M.Sc, M.V.Sc, M.F.Sc, M.Tech, B.Sc (Hons), B.V.Sc & A.H, B.Tech, B.F.Sc, etc in different disciplines. Research programs in the university are provided in the fields of Agricultural Science, Fishery Science, Horticultural Science, and Animal Science. About Campus life
All the colleges in the university are equipped with latest academic infrastructure facilities providing its students an enthusiastic learning environment. The latest designed Biju Patnaik Hall serves as a place for discussion in matters relating to academics, research and extension activities. The Education Museum provides technical knowledge to students and has been the centre of attraction for the visitors since its establishment. There is a Community Centre “Mangala Mandap” for community engagement, cultural and collaborative activities in the university. Dr. M.S. Swaminathan Hall equipped with modern audio-visual systems and latest communication facilities is a hub for various academic and research activities. Besides the above facilities, brief details of other facilities are covered in the following points: Library: The Central library of the university is situated on the first floor of the main building occupying 2400 square meters area. It stocks over 95,000 books, 17,000+ journals, 3500+ Ph.D theses, and subscription to over 40+ international and 100+ national journals. The e-library in the university started from 2004 provides access to vast digital resources. Hostel: To accommodate students from far off locations, hostel facility is provided by the university. In total, the university has 12 boys' hostels and 14 girls' hostels. Hostlers are provided basic residential facilities. Sports: There is a sports complex in the university equipped with several sports amenities like Volleyball Court, Kho-kho field, Playground for Hockey, Basketball Court, Indoor Hall for Badminton and Table Tennis, etc. The sports complex was initially a gymnasium, but now a separate hall is allocated for the gym with two multi-trainer, treadmill, weight training equipment, and weight lifting set. Medical Facilities: A Health Centre has been operating in the university providing free medicines to students and staff. Medical facilities in the health centre include Pathology Laboratory, Physiotherapy unit, OPD Services, ECG, 24x7 Ambulance Service, etc. Other Facilities: Computer Centre, Bank, Post Office, Canteen, Staff Quarters, etc.
