About Campus life
The University campus was set up on 402 acres of land with world-class infrastructure facilities. The faculty-blocks and administrative buildings are designed in a way to support the educational requirements of the students. Students are provided with several infrastructure facilities at the Goa University campus. Some of them are mentioned in the points below:
Library: The Library of the university is the knowledge-hub of the university and was set up on 6479.80 square meters area. It stocks over 180000 books, 200+ e-books, 70+ print journals, 7500+ e-journals, 3200+ CD & video, and more learning resources. In addition to it, the library provides a number of services like Reprographic services, Plagiarism check, Reading spaces, Document lending, etc.
Hostel: Hostel accommodation is available for both boy and girl students. The University has two well-furnished hostels. Besides Mess, hostel students are provided facilities like TV room, Wi-Fi connectivity, Sports (in girl’s hostel only), and more. Two well-furnished Guest Houses, namely: Main Guest House and International Guest House to accommodate guests were constructed at the university campus.
Computer Centre: The Computer Centre was set up in 1987 to provide Central computing facilities to students. There are 20+ computer labs with nearly 2,500 computers in the university.
Sports: The Sports infrastructure in the campus includes facilities like Basketball Court, Athletic track, Kabaddi Court, Football ground, Volleyball court, Weight lifting, Chess, Tennikoit and Taekwondo, Judo, etc. Every year Inter-Collegiate Championship Tournaments are organised by the university and a large number of students participate in the tournament. A Sports Council has been set-up in the university to organise different sports events.
Health Centre: Medical treatment is provided to students in the Health Centre set-up in the university campus. The Health Centre also provides treatment to patients coming from neighboring villages of the campus. Apart from this, there are several health care units around the university campus like Manipal Hospital, Radiance Diagnostics, and Goa Medical College and Hospital.
Other Facilities: Bank, Post Office, Staff Quarters, Day Care Centre, Directorate of Digital Learning and Initiatives Centre with lecture recording studio floor with multicam set-up, Transportation, Seminar Hall, Remote Sensing Lab, Materials Characterisation Laboratory, General Store, Stationery Shop, etc.
