About Campus life
The Infrastructure and Facilities of the Punjab Engineering College are well-maintained and modern that provide students with a comfortable space for their academic journey. The campus of the college has the following infrastructure and facilities:
Library: The central library of the college provides reading materials for undergraduate, research scholars, and postgraduate students of distinguished branches of Engineering. The library is spread over an area of about 27000 sq. ft. that connects two buildings as New Block and Old Block. The centrally air-conditioned New Block is a large library expansion block that comprises 3 floors. The library is categorised into different sections namely Periodical Section, Newspaper Section / Magazine Section, Circular Section, Book Bank, Reference Section, Multimedia Section, Binding Section, and Technical Section, which are managed by qualified faculty members. The Library is also a member of the Ministry of HRD, INDEST-AICTE Consortium, and UGC-Infonet Consortium under INFLIBNET.
Computer Centre: The Computer Centre is set up on the campus to provide internet services to students. The main objective of this centre is to provide ICT amenities for the development of the teaching-learning procedure, research, and other activities of the college. A Controller-Based Wireless Network has been installed within the campus with approximately 300 wireless access points. A Lab for Network / IoT-associated courses has also been established within the centre to enhance the practical knowledge of students in the area of Artificial Intelligence, Networking, IoT, and Programming.
Sports: The campus of the college has various playgrounds and athletic tracks to provide students with games or sports facilities. Students can take participation in games like Volleyball, Football, Cricket, Lawn Tennis, Hockey, Basketball, and Badminton. The campus also has a facility of gym and swimming pool for students.
Hostel: Boy students can find accommodation facilities in about four hostels namely Shivalik Hostel, Himalaya Hostel, Aravali Hostel, and Kurukshetra Hostel. The campus also has hostels for Girls students namely Kalpana Chawla Hostel and Vindhya Hostel. Students can find all the basic facilities within the hostels including a mess where healthy and quality food is served to students. Hostels also have facilities for indoor/outdoor games, a common room, a television set, Wi-Fi, and others to provide students with a comfortable space.
Medical Facility: A dispensary has been set up within the campus to provide first aid and medical requirements for students. To attend students, a senior medical officer, medical staff, nurses, and ward boys are appointed.
Workshops: The campus is equipped with some workshops to provide students with practical knowledge. Some of the workshops are Automobile Shop, Electroplating Shop, Machine Shop, Carpentry Shop, Electrical Shop, Foundry Shop, Pattern Making Shop, Sheet Metal Shop, Welding Shop, and Smithy and Forging Shop.
